What the marketplaces actually charge
- Do booking marketplaces charge dog groomers commission?
- Yes — the marketplace ones do. Fresha and Booksy run pet-grooming marketplaces and charge a one-time fee on the first booking of a client the marketplace introduces, on top of a monthly subscription. Neither charges anything on your own regulars. The rate is set country by country, so the bars above show what is published for your market rather than one global figure. Fresha’s own pricing pages, read from inside each country on 15 August 2026, showed no new-client fee at all in Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Portugal, Italy and Poland — seven of the ten European markets we read — and charged one only in the UK, Ireland and Switzerland, plus the United States. Pretty Pooches charges a flat monthly fee (plus standard card processing) and 0% commission on your bookings.
- Are the clients I introduce charged too?
- On the marketplace apps, a client who found you on your own Instagram or by referral can still be counted as a “new” marketplace client and charged a commission. On Pretty Pooches, clients book on a site under your own brand, so the people you introduce are always yours.
- Do grooming-specific tools charge commission?
- Not a marketplace commission — MoeGo and Tuft don’t run a marketplace, so there’s no cut of a new client’s first booking. That is a genuine difference from Fresha and Booksy. It is not the same as costing you nothing per transaction, though: their plans are tiered rather than one flat price, and card payments are charged on top through whichever payment product the platform puts you on — ours included. Compare the whole monthly bill — subscription, extra seats or vans, commission and card processing — against each platform’s current published rates, not the commission line on its own.
